Dear Genevieve...

I love watching HGTV in general but one of my favorite shows is "Dear Genevieve". The host/designer is Genevieve Gorder (who used to be a designer on "Trading Spaces" back in the day).

I love her style! She uses a lot of neutrals with accents of pattern and color. I've also noticed that she playes a lot with textures and fabrics. Here is one of her room transformations:

This is why I love New Orleans..

I went to NOLA yesterday with Jonathan to meet with a friend and then we stayed the night. (Got to take advantage of those free hotel rooms!) On our way back today we stopped by my favorite jewelry store, Mignon Faget. And Jonathan got me a late birthday present. What could it be??

P.S. I saw Jim Cantore from 'The Weather Channel' at Mother's! I secretly took a picture of him at the next table but it's not very good quality. And I heard that Matt Lauer interviewed Harry Connick Jr. in the French Quarter today. This week was Hurricane Katrina's 5th anniversary, which I guess is why everyone was in New Orleans..

Celebrity Style Icon

After looking through some pictures on People.com I've decided that I've found my ultimate "Celebrity Style Icon/s" - Jennifer Aniston with a hint of Blake Lively. I've always been way more into wearing plain classic pieces that were more solids and duller shades (with the occasional pop of color) than many people I know and for I while I always thought of it as a bad thing - as boring. For the past couple of months I've tried to intentionally buy prints, bold colors and trendier pieces but it's just not "me". I mean I definetly have some items that have prints or bright colors (jewel tones!) that I love. I guess I've just learned that its not a bad thing I dress that way its just different :)

My New Toy

I went to Dirt Cheap last week and found this awesome Buzz Lightyear toy. It didn't have a price so I asked the cashier to look it up for me and ended up getting it for $6!! I got it to give to my niece Mariah but when I took it home Jonathan claimed it. He's still a kid at heart :)

Catering Tonight

Me and Jonathan are catering a party for 65 tonight. So this is what my kitchen counter looks like right now. And thats not even 1/4 of it. You don't even want to see my refridgerator! I'm going to take pictures after the food is done and post them tonight. Wish us luck :)

This is my friend Sully's ninja cat raven. He's 22 years old (That's 198 in cat years!) but still as fiesty as ever. Such a sweetie.. Just don't get in between him and a piece of turkey! (Pookie and boo boo learned that the hard way...)

I saw this bedding tonight on the HGTV show "For Rent" - I've been looking online all night to try and find it. I love the patten and color combinatation!

Summer is ending :(

I've had a lot of time on my hands lately (Due to my unemployment..) but it has given me the ability to let my creative juices flow :)

I found this blog today Newdressaday.wordpress.com This girl is taking old oversized garments and altering them in to new modern pieces and it has inspired me to start playing around with my sewing machine. I would love to make my own clothes!

A lot of blogs I've seen have specific purposes - photography, journaling, fashion, cooking, sewing, design... Mine is going to be pretty much all of the above. Maybe as I go along I'll find something I like to blog about more but until then it's going to be a mixture. And I'm very excited!!
